Students in Jharkhand have been protesting on dharna for fifteen days over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, specifically demanding the cancellation of the fourteenth Civil Services Preliminary Examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. Protesters are also seeking a time-bound investigation within ninety days and action against those responsible. Although a second formal round of discussions between student representatives and a state government-appointed panel took place, no breakthrough was achieved, though both sides described the interaction as positive.
A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking exam cancellation and a probe. With demands unmet, agitating students have issued a call to surround the state assembly on August tenth, while security forces prepare for the demonstration.
