HYDERABAD A meeting of Backward Classes (BC) Ministers, legislators, and senior leaders was held on Saturday at the residence of Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar in Minister Quarters. The meeting was attended by Konda Surekha and Vakiti Srihari, along with several BC MLAs and prominent leaders. Government Advisor K. Keshava Rao, senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, BC Commission Chairman Niranjan, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, Government Whips Adi Srinivas and Beerla Ilaiah, and MLAs Makhan Singh Raj Thakur, Naveen Yadav, and E.
Shankaraya were among those present. TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and MLA Danam Nagender joined the meeting online. According to sources, the leaders discussed finalising dates for the inauguration of the statues of social reformers Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, which have been installed near the HMDA Grounds in Hyderabad. The meeting also deliberated on the proposed unveiling of the statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud on Tank Bund, with efforts underway to fix suitable dates for the ceremonies.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of various welfare schemes being executed through the BC Welfare Department. Leaders assessed whether the benefits of these programmes are reaching people effectively at the grassroots level and discussed measures to improve delivery mechanisms. The meeting also focused on initiatives aimed at strengthening the economic empowerment of weaker sections and ensuring greater access to welfare opportunities and development programmes.
In addition, discussions were held on the completion of Atma Gaurava Bhavans and on strategies for further strengthening the partyâs organisational structure across the State.
