As many as 347 recruits from the Kerala Armed Police (KAP) First and Second Battalions and the India Reserve Battalion took part in a passing out parade at Muttikulangara on Saturday. The recruits included 127 from KAP First Battalion, 110 from KAP Second Battalion and 110 police drivers from the India Reserve Battalion. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, who received the parade salute, said police officers must protect the lives and property of people while upholding constitutional values.
He said the entry of educated young people into the force would improve its performance and urged every officer to be a role model. The recruits underwent training in physical fitness, weapons, firing, karate, yoga, swimming and self-defence. Indoor training covered topics including the Constitution, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Motor Vehicles Act, VIP security, telecommunications, social media and cybercrime. They also received training in forensic science, forensic medicine, penology, victimology and cyber forensics.
Ajith K.R. was named the best indoor cadet from KAP First Battalion, while Shinu Robin R.J. was the best outdoor cadet and all-rounder. Vishnu P.S. was the best shooter. From KAP Second Battalion, Sreehari N. Anand was adjudged the best indoor cadet, Vineeth P. the best outdoor cadet, Sajith C.B. the best shooter and Harshad V. the best all-rounder. From the India Reserve Battalion, Rahul R.S. was named the best indoor cadet, Arjun K.A. the best outdoor cadet, Bijin Raj V.S. the best shooter and Ubaith M.
the best all-rounder. The parade was led by Vineeth P., with Hashim Aliyar as second-in-command. Senior police officers, people’s representatives and relatives of the recruits attended the ceremony.
