The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has criticized Chief Minister Vijay over convening an all-party MPs meeting regarding the delimitation issue. DMK questioned the necessity of the gathering, pointing out that a similar meeting had already taken place during MK Stalin's tenure as Chief Minister. The party boycotted the session, stating that the agenda remained unclear and noting its previous position conveyed through Udhayanidhi Stalin.
DMK emphasized two core demands regarding the proposed exercise: thirty-three percent reservation for women and ensuring that delimitation is not based strictly on population size. DMK leader Kanimozhi reiterated these demands, highlighting concerns among southern states that population control efforts should not lead to reduced parliamentary representation. While TVK suggested DMK might support or walk away from the bill in Parliament, DMK maintains it will review the center's finer print before taking a decision.
Meanwhile, attending parties, including TVK, Congress, Left parties, and VCK, voiced opposition to delimitation.
