A consultative meeting of Tamil Nadu Members of Parliament regarding the proposed Delimitation Bill has concluded in Chennai. Attending political outfits, including Congress, Left parties, VCK, and TVK, unanimously decided to oppose the legislation, demanding that parliamentary representation be frozen at 543 seats and Tamil Nadu maintain its 39 Lok Sabha seats.
Meanwhile, two major regional parties, DMK and AIADMK, boycotted the meeting. DMK indicated it would review the fine print of central government proposals before finalizing its stance, while AIADMK maintained a neutral position on the issue.
