An all-party meeting on constituency delimitation, chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, concluded with participating parties agreeing not to vote in favour of the proposed Delimitation Bill. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) boycotted the meeting, while representatives from the Congress, VCK, and Left parties attended. Leaders at the meeting expressed strong opposition to redrawing parliamentary constituencies based on population metrics, arguing that effective population control measures should not result in reduced political representation for southern states.
Attending MPs demanded that total Lok Sabha seats be frozen at 543 and that Tamil Nadu's allocation remain guaranteed at 39 seats. Speakers further urged that women's reservation be implemented within the existing 543 parliamentary seats rather than expanding overall numbers. While DMK maintained it would review the fine print of the bill once introduced in Parliament, attendees resolved to unite against any alteration to the current distribution of seats.
