Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal announced the party's support for the Women's Reservation Bill and the delimitation proposal following a detailed meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The decision was finalized during a meeting with top party leaders in Chandigarh. Senior party leader Daljit Singh Cheema confirmed SAD's backing for the proposal to increase seats in all states by 50 percent, moving away from linking delimitation to the 2011 census.
