Bengaluru Luxury Hotels Under Scanner: Expired Food, Substandard Meat Found In Raids

A major food safety inspection across three-star and five-star hotels in Bengaluru has raised serious concerns after officials reportedly found expired food products, substandard meat, unhygienic storage areas and fungal growth on vegetables. Karnataka's Food Safety and Drug Administration deployed 30 teams and collected 35 food samples for laboratory testing.
Authorities also seized food items including chicken, meat, fish, vegetables, milk and bakery products that were considered expired or unsafe. Notices have been issued to concerned establishments, while the inspections have sparked a bigger question: if food safety standards are being questioned at luxury hotels, what does it mean for the wider hospitality and restaurant industry?
