Assam's devastating flood crisis has claimed at least 98 lives, with more than 1.68 lakh people affected across 15 districts. Golaghat is among the worst-hit areas, followed by Sivasagar and Jorhat, while 481 villages remain submerged. Around 45,000 displaced people are currently taking shelter in 133 relief camps across six districts.
The floods have damaged more than 40,382 hectares of crop area and affected over 41,000 domestic animals and poultry. Although water levels are beginning to recede in several areas, rescue teams continue to recover bodies from debris, while thousands of people remain displaced and face severe damage to homes, livelihoods and infrastructure.
