Karnataka's Food Safety Department has launched a special inspection drive targeting three-star and five-star hotels across Bengaluru. During inspections of 26 hotels, authorities collected 35 food samples for laboratory analysis and reportedly found several food safety violations, including expired meat and milk, unhygienic food handling and storage, fungal growth on vegetables, improper labeling and alleged violations of FSSAI norms.
Officials also found instances where vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was not stored separately. Several prominent luxury hotels were reportedly flagged during the inspections, prompting renewed questions over food safety and hygiene standards in premium hotel kitchens.
