The Jharkhand student protest over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations has entered its 15th day. A first round of talks between student representatives and four state ministers was held in Ranchi, with both sides describing the meeting as positive. The ministers acknowledged the students' concerns and said their demands would be conveyed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
However, no breakthrough has been reached, and the students say their agitation will continue. Protesters are demanding a CBI probe, cancellation of disputed examinations and strict action over alleged paper leaks, evaluation errors and OMR discrepancies. They have also reiterated their proposed Vidhan Sabha gherao on August 10.
