Army Jawan killed his wife A 28-year-old Indian Army jawan has been arrested for allegedly strangling his seven-month-pregnant wife to death at their home in Maharashtra’s Washim district. Police suspect the woman was killed following a domestic dispute, just a day before the accused was scheduled to leave for duty in Jammu and Kashmir. The accused, Dnyaneshwar Madne, serves with the Army’s 6 Maratha Battalion. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, police have registered a murder case against Madne and his parents, India Today reported.
Doctors Suspected Foul Play Police said Madne allegedly took his wife, Dipali, to a private hospital in an ambulance after the incident. She was later referred to a government hospital, where doctors noticed suspicious injury marks and alerted the police. Senior police officer Manish Thakre said visible marks around the woman’s neck immediately raised suspicion. “When our team reached the hospital, it was apparent that something was wrong. There were visible injury marks on the woman’s neck," Thakre was quoted as saying. Investigators believe an argument between the couple escalated, following which the jawan allegedly strangled his wife. Police are still investigating the sequence of events leading to her death. Accused Claimed Wife Had Fallen Before the incident came under police scrutiny, Madne reportedly called Dipali’s family at around 3 pm on Thursday, claiming she had fallen at home and had been admitted to hospital.
Her family, who live in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district, rushed to Washim and reached the hospital later that evening. Family Alleges Extra-Marital Relationship Dipali’s family has alleged that Madne was involved in an extra-marital relationship and had been harassing her over the issue for some time. Her brother, Rahul Mane, said tensions between the couple had escalated months ago, prompting both families to hold a meeting in an attempt to resolve the dispute. Although the matter appeared to have been settled, the family alleged that the harassment continued. Investigation Continues Police said Madne was due to leave for Jammu and Kashmir the following day. After receiving the complaint from Dipali’s brother, officers arrested the Army jawan and booked his parents in connection with the case. The investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Dipali’s death.
