A youth from Ahmedabad has begun an indefinite hunger strike in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, alleging favouritism in the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) after the organisation announced its first Working Committee. Manish Brahmbhatt, who claims to have been associated with the Jantar Mantar student movement, alleged that several volunteers and coordinators who worked on the campaign were sidelined, while only those close to CJP founder Abhijit Dipke were given positions in the newly formed leadership. Speaking during the protest, Brahmbhatt said he and other volunteers attended the CJP core committee meeting but were not allowed to participate.

“We were there throughout the day, but nobody called us inside. Initially, we were told on WhatsApp that we had not reached the venue. Later, we spoke to Ashutosh, but we received no response. Some people inside later told us that everyone’s phones had been kept outside during the meeting, so no one knew we were waiting," he claimed. He further alleged that he had proposed a nationwide public outreach campaign titled “Ek Reel Desh Ke Naam", where citizens could use social media to raise public issues. However, he claimed the proposal was later launched by the CJP under the name “Kya Bolti Public" without acknowledging its origin. Brahmbhatt, along with another CJP volunteer, staged a protest outside Dipke’s residence on Thursday, demanding representation for coordinators who were actively involved in the Jantar Mantar student movement.

The protest comes a day after the CJP announced the formation of its Working Committee during a two-day core committee meeting held at Dipke’s residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The organisation appointed founder Abhijit Dipke (30) as Convener, while chief spokesperson Saurav Das (27) and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka (30) were named Co-Conveners. Addressing the media after the meeting, CJP leaders said the organisation would continue functioning as a grassroots movement and would not transform into a political party anytime soon. In an official statement, the CJP announced that it had ratified its inaugural national leadership team and would spend the next six months setting up State Coordination Committees, along with Lok Sabha and city-level units across the country. The statement added that no office-bearers had been appointed other than those officially announced. The newly constituted leadership includes Ajinkya Shinde as Organisation In-Charge, Deepak Baliyan as Organisation Co-In-Charge, Aafreen Nawaz as Secretary, Vijay Reddi Mallangi as Media Lead, Ratna Singh as Legal Affairs Lead, Vaishnavi Gaur as Research and Policy Lead, Rohan Deshpande as Technology Lead and Yogesh Ingale as Finance Lead.
