As forecast by the India Meteorological Department, heavy rain lashed most parts of the city on Friday evening, throwing traffic haywire and leaving streets waterlogged. Dark grey clouds that hovered over Hyderabad turned into a downpour that limited visibility for motorists in many areas, including Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Madhapur, Panjagutta and Ameerpet.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police took to social media to issue an advisory in view of the intense rain. “Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary travel
during heavy rain. If travel is unavoidable, drive slowly, maintain a safe distance, use headlights, and follow the instructions of traffic personnel,” the traffic police
posted on X at 6.44 pm minutes after the pelting rain spell began.
