Eight new state-of-the-art Arogya Kavach ambulances commissioned by the State government to strengthen emergency healthcare services in Mysuru were flagged off by Minister for Urban Development Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Friday. The newly inducted fleet is aimed at providing timely emergency medical assistance to people in both urban and rural areas of the district, thereby enhancing the district’s healthcare infrastructure, said a statement here. The ambulances are equipped with advanced life-saving equipment and are intended to ensure that patients, particularly victims of road accidents and other critical medical emergencies, are transported to hospitals within the Golden Hour, significantly improving their chances of survival.
They will be strategically stationed across the district to provide rapid emergency response, especially in rural areas. The commissioning of the new ambulances comes after several older ambulances were decommissioned due to engine failure and other mechanical issues, said officials. The ambulances will also be integrated with the State government’s technology-driven centralised Command and Control Centre and equipped with GPS to enable swift response to emergency calls. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in the Mysuru District Hospital on Friday, Dr. Yathindra said the State government remains committed to improving healthcare services in Mysuru district and urged the public to make use of the free ambulance service.
Providing quality and timely healthcare remains one of the government’s top priorities, and strengthening ambulance services is essential to ensuring that prompt emergency medical care reaches the people, he said. The flag-off
ceremony was attended by Ravishankar, K.R. Nagar MLA, Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Laxmikant Reddy G., the Chief Executive Officer of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat Yukesh Kumar, senior officials of the Health Department and others.
