The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) removed 290 encroachments from roads, footpaths and other public spaces across a 14.1 km stretch in its three zones on Friday, August 7, as part of its weekly ‘Walk Free’ initiative. The drive was carried out across the Serilingampally, Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zones, with the highest number of encroachments removed in Quthbullapur Zone.
In the Serilingampally Zone, 85 encroachments were removed along a 4.7 km stretch. This included 33 encroachments in Narsingi, 25 in Miyapur, 17 in Ameenpur and 10 in Serilingampally. CMC teams removed another 55 encroachments across 3.1 km in Kukatpally Zone. Of these, 15 were removed in Kukatpally, 14 each in Madhapur and Allwyn Colony, and 12 in Moosapet.
Quthbullapur Zone accounted for 150 of the 290 encroachments removed during the drive, covering a distance of 6.3 km. The civic body removed 35 encroachments in Kompally, 26 in Nizampet, 24 in Jeedimetla, 20 in Gajularamaram, 16 in
Dundigal, 15 in Medchal and 14 in Chintal. The civic body said its teams would continue to monitor the cleared stretches to prevent re-encroachment and ensure that the reclaimed roads, footpaths and public spaces remain available for public use.
