Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (August 7, 2026) met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla amid the ongoing stalemate between the government and the Opposition over a debate on the police crackdown on protesting students and alleged theft of Ram temple donations.
The Opposition has been stalling Lok Sabha proceedings while seeking a response from Mr. Shah on the use of force by police on students during their march to Parliament on July 20. Shah spent nearly an hour in Mr. Birla's office.
Separately, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Mr. Shah in his Parliament House office.
