Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretariat member J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy on Friday (August 7, 2026) said the Narendra Modi-led Union government had failed to fulfil the promises made to the people and was attempting to divert attention from public issues by targeting youth movements.
Launching the party’s padayatra from the Alluri Sitarama Raju statue at Poorna Market under the “Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao” campaign, he said the nationwide programme began on August 6 and would culminate in a rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on September 1. Murthy also expressed concern over the proposed establishment of 7.1 GW of data centre capacity in north Andhra, alleging that the projects could strain water resources and adversely affect the environment.
He urged the State government to review the proposals and called upon Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to clarify his stand on their environmental implications. Party State committee member M. Paidiraju, district secretary S.K. Rahiman, assistant secretaries P. Chandrasekhar, M. Manmadhara Rao, M.D. Begum, R.
Srinivasa Rao, N. Nagabhushana Rao and other party leaders participated in the programme.
