Bengaluru: Centum Electronics to invest Rs 500 crore to set up a new aerospace and defence electronics manufacturing facility in Karnataka, Industries minister MB Patil said.Construction of the facility will begin in September at the Hi-Tech Defence & Aerospace Park in Bengaluru, the minister wrote on X.The project will be implemented over the next four years and is expected to generate around 1,500 jobs. The facility will manufacture high-end aerospace and defence electronics, including radar systems and electronic warfare technologies, according to Patil.Patil met joint managing director of Centum Electronics Nikhil Mallavarapu, to review the progress of the investment commitment made during the Invest Karnataka Conclave 2026.The announcement comes days after Cipla and Rocket India announced expansion plans in Karnataka, while private equity firm Blackstone expressed interest in investing in data centres, renewable energy and fibre-optic infrastructure during the state's investment roadshow in Mumbai.Karnataka has intensified efforts to attract fresh investments through domestic and overseas investor outreach as competition for large manufacturing projects gathers pace.The state is vying with rivals such as Tamil Nadu, which has been aggressively courting investments across electronics, electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing through policy incentives and investor engagement.
