However, the 16-year-old survivor is battling her physical and mental trauma at the hospital’s gynaecological ward after undergoing plastic surgery, while the accused remains admitted in the air-conditioned ICU chamber, according to TOI. Accused Self-Harms In Lock-Up Police said the 19-year-old, who comes from an affluent locality in Thane, allegedly injured himself inside the Hudkeshwar police station lock-up shortly after midnight by repeatedly hitting his head and face against the walls and floor.
Investigators said he had also been insisting on preferential treatment while in custody. According to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) medical report, the accused was found to have sustained an orbital bone fracture, while doctors also detected excess air in the pericardial cavity surrounding his heart during a routine examination. Following the findings, he was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU), where doctors planned an advanced CT scan to determine the extent of the chest injury. “An overdose of libido-enhancing drugs can trigger health complications, including serious heart problems. Intense exertion during sexual acts could also have contributed to air suction around the heart," said a senior medical expert, while speaking to TOI. Surgical Blades, Sex Contraptions: What Police Found In Accused’s Room Police officials were surprised that the accused’s parents did not appear at the police station even as investigators searched the family’s residence in Thane for electronic gadgets, digital storage devices, documents and other material that could aid the investigation. During the search, officers allegedly recovered surgical blades and se related devices from the accused’s bedroom, senior police sources said.
