Mohana Rao Patibandla, a neurosurgeon from Guntur, has received three awards for research on minimally invasive spine surgery during the 26th annual meeting of the Pacific and Asian Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (PASMISS), held jointly with the 12th MISSABCON and the 5th COSSCON in Chennai recently.
Addressing the media at Dr. Rao's Hospital in Guntur on Thursday, Dr. Patibandla said he received the PASMISS best free paper award, the MISSAB best free paper award and the COSSCON best paper gold medal after independent evaluation by expert panels.
The recognised research focused on a minimally invasive surgical technique for treating selected patients with complex disorders involving the junction between the skull and the upper spine, particularly those who continue to experience symptoms after previous surgery. Rao said research should focus on finding safer and more effective treatment methods for patients.
He added that recognition from scientific societies encourages continued research and innovation.
