Residents said the unusual activity started again at around 3 pm. A similar occurrence was witnessed two days earlier, but the movement of the water had gradually stopped by Thursday afternoon before restarting later in the day. The unexplained phenomenon attracted several villagers, who gathered around the well to witness the unusual movement.

Some locals have linked it to the region’s seismic activity, pointing out that Morbi has witnessed earthquakes in the past. However, no official explanation has been provided by authorities so far. The District Collector has also ordered a detailed report from the groundwater research team. Collector Swapnil Khare said that based on reports circulating on social media about the well in Virparda, district geologists visited the site today.

Their preliminary assessment suggests the water movement is likely caused by trapped air beneath the water. “As the trapped air shifts, it creates movement on the water’s surface… The Gujarat Groundwater Research Institute has also been asked to conduct a detailed study and submit a report," he added.
