A woman in Gujarat's Gandhinagar left her marital home after her husband molested her friend. The situation, however, took a horrifying turn when he later raped their four-year-old daughter, police said. The 32-year-old accused has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to the police, the woman's friend, who had been staying at their home, accused the man of making lewd advances towards her and had also molested her when she was alone.
Read Full Story The incident led to an argument between the couple, following which the woman left for her parents' home with their daughter and two-year-old son. The accused later went to his in-laws' house and insisted on taking one of the children with him. Despite initial reluctance, the family allowed the girl to accompany her father.
According to the police, after returning home, the accused raped the child during the night while she was sleeping with him. The child cried out in pain, following which the assault stopped. The following morning, the girl's aunt noticed bleeding while bathing her and alerted the family. Her mother was immediately informed, and the child was taken to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, where a medical examination indicated sexual assault.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and arrested the accused within hours. Ends
