Emami Agrotech Ltd., the food business of Emami Group of companies, has entered India’s ready-to-eat snacks market with the launch of WeMe on Thursday (August 6, 2026). According to the company’s directors, this new launch aims to be a digital-first snacking brand, beginning with Kolkata, which also houses the headquarters of the Emami group. This launch is part of the company’s expansion plan in the packaged food business across sectors. In recent months, the Emami Agrotech company has also diversified their products beyond their known edible oil products and started the manufacturing of branded staples and kitchen essentials like atta, maida, besan, and suji. The new brand WeMe has initially started with three product categories — a choco hazelnut spread, including what the company claimed is India’s first portable chiplet-format offering; Jhuri Aloo Bhaja; and potato chips in multiple flavours.
At the moment, the products are available for sale on quick-commerce platforms across major cities like Kolkata, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. Their product distribution has started out from Kolkata and east India and is set to expand across the country in the coming months. The company said it has plans to invest ₹750 crore in the business and aims to build WeMe into a ₹1,000-crore brand over the next five to seven years. Aditya Vardhan Agarwal, Director of Emami Group, said that the venture will generate around 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. “At Emami Agrotech, we have always believed food is about more than satisfying hunger—it is about earning consumer trust through quality, relevance and innovation.
Having built a strong foods portfolio under Healthy & Tasty, WeMe marks our strategic entry into one of India’s most exciting food categories,” Mr. Agarwal said. He also added that they are planning to launch a new manufacturing unit in West Bengal in the coming months, but the exact timeline of the launch was not confirmed as the land acquisition remained under way. Agarwal added that the company aims to expand this new brand into a ₹1,000-crore business over the next five to seven years calling it “an important milestone in our vision of building Emami Agrotech into a comprehensive food company.” Vidula Agarwal, Director, Emami Group, said the brand has been conceived as a digital-first offering to engage younger consumers through creators, social media, and quick-commerce platforms.
