Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused Opposition MPs of deliberately causing disruptions and stalling proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha during the parliamentary session. The government stated that repeated chaos has prevented key debates and the passing of critical bills, despite efforts to reach out to Opposition leaders, including a personal interaction and telephonic conversation with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
While the government highlighted that the anti-paper leak amendment bill saw 22 hours of debate, other legislative business remained affected. The government has urged Opposition MPs to allow Parliament to function so all members can present their views.
