US Cites Security Concerns For Expanded Checks White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the Daily Signal report on X, which said the US State Department was widening its online vetting process. A State Department spokesperson said the department uses “online presence vetting" to determine whether visa applicants meet US legal requirements. The spokesperson said the screening process aims to ensure foreign nationals entering the US respect the terms of their admission and do not pose risks to national security, public safety or US interests. The department said officials use different methods to review applicants, prevent fraud and make decisions related to visa approvals. It was not immediately clear when the expanded social media checks would come into effect.
