Following the dispute, a car rammed into a group of youngsters near the Koyambedu flyover. Eighteen-year-old Yancy died on the spot, while a 17-year-old girl, who had suffered severe head injuries, succumbed to her injuries five days later while undergoing treatment.

According to police, the incident occurred around midnight on the stretch connecting Koyambedu and Thirumangalam. Officers from the K-11 CMBT Police Station rushed to the scene after receiving information about a collision involving a car and two motorcycles. Police initially registered a murder case and launched an investigation. Four persons have so far been arrested in connection with the incident and remanded to judicial custody. Efforts are underway to trace additional suspects who are believed to have been involved. The body of the 17-year-old victim was handed over to her family and taken to her native village near Tiruvallur for final rites. Police sources said the investigation is continuing, but no action has yet been taken against the owners of the bar where the dispute allegedly originated. Chennai Bar Brawl As per the reports, the victims and their friends had spent the evening at a private bar in Koyambedu on May 31, where they allegedly got into an argument with another group.

The verbal dispute soon escalated into a physical altercation before bar bouncers stepped in and separated the two groups. Police said tensions flared again outside a nearby shop after both groups left the establishment. Although bouncers intervened once more and dispersed them, the hostility reportedly continued. The women and their friends later left the area on two motorcycles heading towards Thirumangalam, while the rival group travelled in a car. During the journey, some members of the motorcycle group allegedly threw stones at the car, police said. Enraged by the incident, the occupants of the car allegedly chased the two-wheeler and deliberately rammed into it at high speed.
