YSRCP leaders and activists staged protests across Rayalaseema region on Thursday demanding the resignation of Minister for Education, Nara Lokesh, owning ‘moral responsibility’ for the alleged irregularities in the DSC-2025 recruitment exam, besides seeking CBI probe into the episode. In Nellore, the party launched relay hunger strike at VRC Centre, which was led by East Rayalaseema (Teachers) MLC Parvathareddy Chandra Sekhar Reddy. Mr. Reddy, who has been the party’s voice over the sensational issue for a year, hogged the limelight when he filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking CBI probe into the Mega DSC 2025 teacher recruitment process.
The party dubbed the four-day relay hunger strike as ‘AP Gen Z war’, trying to equate it with the anti-NEET protests that rocked Jantar Mantar in New Delhi recently. Draping a black shawl around his neck as a symbol of protest, Mr. Reddy alleged that the ruling NDA dispensation put the teacher jobs for sale and rendered gross injustice to eligible candidates. Similarly, the participating students also decried that the State government ditched the teacher job aspirants. In Tirupati, the agitation was led by constituency in-charge Bhumana Abhinay Reddy at the old municipal corporation junction.
He demanded CBI probe into the case in view of the alleged irregularities and to safeguard the interests of the eligible candidates. Mild tension was witnessed when YSRCP cadre clashed with TDP workers at the residence of TDP constituency in-charge J.B. Srinivas here on Thursday. Accusing the TDP leader of supporting a person accused in a murder case, the YSRCP activists brought the victim’s wife for a demonstration near his residence. However, the incident led to a clash between the two groups and a television channel reporter covering the incident was also reported to have been beaten up in the melee.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and cleared the warring groups from the spot.
