According to an NDTV report, Babita Pandey — a resident of Nainital — had gone to Uttarkashi with her two friends, Harmanpal Singh and Harmanpreet Singh. On May 25, they went to Dehradun and later visited Harsil, Gangotri, and nearby tourist spots before heading to Raithal village on May 28 for a stay, Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay told journalists on Wednesday.

The trio was last seen on CCTV camera installed in Raithal, NDTV reported. How The Episode Unfolded On May 29, Pandey and her friends kicked off their trek from Raithal to Dayara Bugyal, and stayed the night at Goi Base camp. Around midnight, she went missing from the camp, SP Upadhyay said, as per the NDTV report. Since the episode, a 150-member team comprising personnel from the army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, and the forest department has been involved in an extensive search operation to locate Pandey. With the help of sniffer dogs and drone surveillance, the teams have been carrying out the search operation. A si member diving team is also searching a lake near the Goi Base camp to find her. ‘We Are Very Worried’ Laskhmi Pandey, the grandmother of Babita Pandey, expressed her concern over the incident and said there had been no concrete information on the whereabouts of her granddaughter.

The police have also issued a picture of the missing girl, urging citizens to contact authorities if any information is found.
