AIUTUC stages protest in Mysuru over delay in revised minimum wages

Condemning the State government’s alleged delay in implementing the revised minimum wages, the Mysuru district committee of the All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) staged a protest rally in the city on Thursday. In a press release, AIUTUC stated that minimum wages in Karnataka had not been revised for the past seven years.
Following sustained Statewide agitations by AIUTUC and other trade unions, the State government issued a notification in May revising the minimum wage structure. However, the union alleged that instead of implementing the revised wages, pressure was exerted on the government, leading to the Finance Department withholding their implementation.
It described the move as “giving with one hand and taking away with the other” and termed it an attack on the working class. Demanding the immediate implementation of the revised minimum wages, AIUTUC organised Statewide protests.
As part of the agitation, workers took out a rally from Gun House Circle to the Zilla Panchayat office in Mysuru and submitted a memorandum urging the government to enforce the revised wage notification without further delay.
