Andhra Pradesh emerged as one of the leading States in the implementation of the Central government’s flagship PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand said in a review meeting through a video-conference on Thursday, wherein he reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerating the installation of rooftop solar systems across State, promoting the adoption of clean energy, and ensuring the timely disbursement of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to all eligible beneficiaries. On the occasion, Mr. Vijayanand directed the officials to take all measures to achieve these objectives and stressed that Andhra Pradesh should make its mark as the best-performing State in the country under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
He noted that as of August 4, a total of 4,11,915 rooftop solar systems had been installed across the State, of which 2,78,438 systems were uploaded on the national portal, while another 1,33,477 were physically installed under the SC/ST Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model and pending for upload on the national portal. With this achievement, Andhra Pradesh secured a place among the top four States in the country. On the ULA model, Mr. Vijayanand said the State had set a target of installing 5,99,105 rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of 1,198.21 MW for SC & ST consumers.
Materials had already been supplied for 3,01,524 systems and 2,27,549 installations were completed on the ground. Among the DISCOMs, SPDCL was leading with 47% progress, followed by CPDCL with 35% and EPDCL with 32%. He also instructed the officials, resolve all implementation-related issues on a priority basis and observed that easy access to low-cost loans was critical for the success of the programme. Besides, Mr. Vijayanand called for proper coordination between the DISCOMs, District Collectors, Lead Banks and financial institutions to ensure that eligible consumers could readily avail the solar loans.
