Relay hunger strikes began outside the Anantapur Municipal Corporation office premises under the leadership of YSRCP Anantapur district president Anantha Venkatarami Reddy on Thursday demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the District Selection Committee (DSC) exam in Vijayawada and the resignation of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh. Venkatarami Reddy strongly condemned the attack on party leader and former MLA Malladi Vishnu by TDP MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and his followers while he was staging a protest at Mutyalampadu following a call given by the party high command over the issue.
Activists from the YSRCP youth wing and trade unions, along with YSRCP leaders from Divisions 1 through 13 participated in the strike on the first day. Mr. Venkatarami Reddy lashed out at the coalition government’s ruling and alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to keep his promise of providing jobs and monthly unemployment allowance of ₹3,000 to youngsters even after two years.
He further demanded the immediate release of outstanding fee reimbursement funds worth ₹9,500 crore. He criticized Mr. Naidu and Mr. Lokesh for playing with the lives of the unemployed youth by conducting a deceptive DSC recruitment drive under the guise of Mega DSC. The YSRCP leader also alleged irregularities in sports quota appointments and claimed that posts were sold through backroom deals by altering Government Orders (GOs).
He noted that several eligible candidates in Guntakal and Kadiri failed to secure teacher posts. Meanwhile, CPI State secretariat member Jagadeesh announced the party’s full support for the relay hunger strikes organised by the YSRCP.
