'Forced To Marry, Convert': E Employee At Pune IT Firm Alleges 'Mental Harassment' At Workplace Published By, Last Updated: June 04, 2026, 12:37 IST A 48-year-old woman, an e employee of an IT firm based in Maharashtra's Pune, has alleged that she was pressured to marry and convert her religion Image for representation | AI-generated Weeks after allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion surfaced at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), another IT firm has found itself under the spotlight after a former female employee claimed that she was subjected to prolonged mental harassment at the workplace. A 48-year-old woman — an e employee of an IT firm based in Maharashtra’s Pune — has alleged that she was pressured to marry and convert her religion.
The woman made the allegations at an event organised by the Pune Union of Working Journalists (PUWJ). Working at the Hinjawadi unit of the company, she alleged that another woman — associated with the company — repeatedly forced her to marry and undergo religious conversion. “Since April, a woman who worked under me had been pressuring me to undergo religious conversion. She told me that if I underwent conversion, I would get more money and it would enhance the quality of my life", she stated. After she rejected the demands, she was reportedly subjected to mental harassment at the workplace, prompting her to resign from the company, the complainant alleged.
The allegations have, once again, raised concerns over working environment and the safety of women at workplaces. TCS Conversion Case The fresh allegations came to the surface weeks after the case linked to sexual harassment and forceful religious conversion at the Nashik unit of TCS emerged. Complaints claimed that senior employees sexually harassed women staff and pressured some into religious conversion. The issue first came to light on March 25, when a 23-year-old employee filed an FIR accusing a colleague of rape on the false promise of marriage. An FIR was registered at the Deolali Camp Police Station on March 26, 2026 under several charges, including rape, attempt to religiously convert the victim and hurting religious sentiments.
