Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar recently raised a question in the Lok Sabha regarding the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in various schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. A statement here said the MP had sought information from the government on the objectives behind the use of AI, the schemes planned for implementation, the safeguarding of personal data, measures to prevent discrimination, and independent evaluation and review mechanisms.
Responding to the question, the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs stated that, under the ambit of the IndiaAI Mission, it is examining the use of AI-based technologies in collaboration with domestic artificial intelligence institutions to make digital governance more effective. The government said digital platforms are being developed to further ease citizen services, including multilingual AI chatbots, virtual assistant systems, and the Haj Suvidha app, the statement said.
The India AI Governance Guidelines released by the government on November 5, 2025, provide comprehensive guidelines for the safe, fair and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The Ministry clarified that AI technologies will be used in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, along with safeguards for personal data privacy, data security, information security, and a grievance redressal mechanism, the statement added.
Reacting to this, Mr. Wadiyar said that the responsible use of artificial intelligence will help make government services more transparent, effective and citizen-friendly. “Alongside technological development, it is of utmost importance that citizens’ rights and the safety of personal information are equally protected,” he said.
