Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday paid floral tributes to Prof. K. Jayashankar on the occasion of his birth anniversary, describing him as the principal ideologue of the Telangana movement and a visionary who dedicated his life to the cause of a separate State. Paying homage to the late professor’s portrait at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Mr. Reddy said Prof. Jayashankar’s role in shaping the Telangana movement was invaluable.
He hailed him as a great personality who worked tirelessly throughout his life for the achievement of Telangana and said the State government remained committed to fulfilling the aspirations he had envisioned for people. ‘KCR’s godfather’ The birth anniversary of Prof. Jayashankar was also observed at BRS State headquarters Telangana Bhavan, where leaders and party workers paid tributes by garlanding his statue.
Addressing the gathering, party working president K.T. Rama Rao recalled his long association with Prof. Jayashankar. “Many memories come to mind when I think of Prof. Jayashankar. We consider K. Chandrasekhar Rao as the father of Telangana, and he regarded Jayashankar as his godfather,” Mr. Rao said. The programme was attended by several leaders. Bandi pays tributes Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar also paid tributes to Prof. Jayashankar and said Prof. Jayashankar dedicated his life to the cause of Telangana and the welfare of its people.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rakshana Sena president K. Kavitha also paid homage to Prof. Jayashankar before addressing a public meeting at Saroornagar.
