At least three protesters sustained gunshot injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Patna.
The video of the policeman firing the AK-47 was circulated widely on social media since July 26. The Opposition has been persistently demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the āpolice brutalitiesā faced by the protesters, including baton charges, tear gas shells and pellet guns. The policeman who used the AK-47 was suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered by the State administration.
According to sources, Congress proposed the idea, which was backed by all bloc members. So far, no date has been fixed for the trip, though senior leaders aware of the discussions said that, in all likelihood, the tour will be planned during the Parliament session to further highlight the ārepressive measuresā deployed by the government to deal with the protesters.
