‘Let The Young Soldier Love’: Internet Defends Army Officer’s Proposal During Passing-Out Parade Published By, Last Updated: June 04, 2026, 14:05 IST As an Indian Army Captain’s proposal at a passing-out parade went viral, some questioned the use of an official military setting but others came out strongly defending his gesture News18 An Indian Army Captain’s proposal to his girlfriend after a passing-out parade at the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) in Nashik has sparked a wide online debate. The video of the moment, which showed him proposing in front of a military helicopter, quickly went viral on X. While many people called it a heartfelt gesture, others questioned whether it was appropriate to use a formal military setting for a personal moment. The matter also drew attention from defence sources, who reportedly said the Army has sought an explanation from the officer. Officials reportedly raised concern about the use of a military helicopter and an official ceremony for a private event. At the same time, they also noted that the sentiment behind the proposal is understood, but the timing and setting may not align with service guidelines. Army Reviews Use Of Official Setting According to reports, the Army is now looking into the incident to understand how the situation unfolded during the passing-out parade event. Sources said that while the act itself is not being treated as a serious violation, the officer may be advised on rules related to conduct and the use of official military platforms. It is also being reported that no major disciplinary action is expected. Instead, the focus is likely to be on counselling the officer about proper behaviour in uniform and the importance of maintaining decorum during official occasions. You want the young officer to sacrifice his life for the love of the Nation, but you don’t want him to express his love for his fiancée.In the Army we say ‘Youngster nahi karega, toh kaun karega’.
If you can not find a fault in his professional capabilities, don’t do this… pic.twitter.com/FS0G2USjiU — KJS DHILLON🇮🇳 (@TinyDhillon) June 4, 2026 Online Debate Splits Opinions The video has triggered strong reactions online, with users divided over whether the Captain’s gesture was inappropriate or simply a personal moment of happiness. A post on X by Army veteran Lt. Gen. (Retd) KJS Dhillion has gone viral, where he defended the officer’s actions. He wrote, “You want the young officer to sacrifice his life for the love of the Nation, but you don’t want him to express his love for his fiancée. In the Army we say ‘Youngster nahi karega, toh kaun karega’. If you can not find a fault in his professional capabilities, don’t do this nuktachini for such a pure gesture of love and belonging." “Military equipment has been on display during many ‘Know your Army’ exhibitions around the country. The students and non military personnel have clicked pics with it showing pride and love for the Army. So, please don’t bring in the national security angle into this. Let the young soldier do his national duty with pride and honour. Jai Hind," he also added. Another user wrote, “Points to remember though before venting for or against this young officer While the Army understands the Captain’s desire to propose to his girlfriend, the occasion and location were inappropriate." I don’t understand why people are trolling them, a captain chose to express his love on one of the most important days of his life, what’s wrong with that?Army officers are human too, they have emotions and feelings just like everyone else, whether she cheats later or not,… pic.twitter.com/JqYKnO6xV6 — Berlin 🚩 (@Toxicity_______) June 3, 2026 Points to remember though before venting for or against this young officerWhile the Army understands the Captain’s desire to propose to his girlfriend, the occasion and location were inappropriate pic.twitter.com/eBdygQVWjH — प्रियदर्शी (@priyadar_singh) June 4, 2026 Some users strongly supported the captain, saying he should not be criticised for expressing personal happiness on an important day.

On many occasions, army equipment is open to public viewing and photography. There’s is no security breach. This young pilot lives away from family & friends quite often. Let him be," a different user said. What decorum has he violated. In fact it looked so beautiful bcs the young captain is so beholden to the army that he proudly exhibits it to his loved one. Cmmon @adgpi cut this young dashing man some slack. Rather ask your top generals to talk less English and focus on work than chide these young dashing men." Others highlighted the emotional side of military life. A user wrote, “This gesture was made out of love and support. When an officer is deployed to a remote area, a supportive spouse often takes on all family responsibilities, enabling the officer to serve the nation with complete dedication.
Therefore, the Army should stand by this officer." This gesture was made out of love and support. We are inside the helicopter with a committed youngster who earned the uniform Let us stop being negative about sweet joys and expression of love! Do hope this doesn’t lead to another officer being targeted. Jai Hind."
