Bengaluru SIR: Nearly 49.42 lakh voters out of Bengaluru’s 1.03 crore registered electorate have been flagged under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate or Other (ASDDO) category during Karnataka’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, raising concerns over possible exclusion from the voter list. The data, released by Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V Anbukumar on August 5, showed that these voters were identified during the enumeration phase in Bengaluru. Across Karnataka, around 1.11 crore voters — nearly one-fifth of the state’s 5.54 crore registered electors — have been placed under the ASDDO category, according to The News Minute.

The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on August 17. Several Bengaluru Assembly constituencies have reported a high proportion of voters marked under the ASDDO category. In 10 constituencies, more than half of the mapped voters have been flagged for possible exclusion. Bommanahalli recorded the highest percentage, with around 2.76 lakh voters placed under the category. Other constituencies with ASDDO rates above 50% include Vijayanagar (53.66%), Dasarahalli (53.55%), BTM Layout (53.43%) and C V Raman Nagar (53.25%). CEO V Anbukumar said the ASDDO lists have been shared with all seven recognised political parties in Karnataka. He added that voters who have been wrongly classified can get their details corrected by August 8. According to the CEO, each ASDDO entry is backed by a spot mahazar — a verification document signed by at least one booth-level agent of a recognised political party. How To Check ASDDO Status and Correct Details Voters can check whether their names have been placed under the ASDDO category through the Karnataka Election Commission’s official portal Those who find their names incorrectly marked as absent, shifted, dead, duplicate or under any other category can approach their Booth Level Officer (BLO), provide proof of continued residence at the registered address and submit an enumeration form for correction.
