(IMAGE: X) A KSRTC bus driver in Karnataka has won widespread praise online after diverting his bus to rush a woman suffering a medical emergency to hospital, earning admiration for his quick thinking and presence of mind.
The incident took place on a KSRTC bus travelling from Tumakuru to Madhugiri, where 62-year-old Gayatri Devi reportedly suffered a heart attack during the journey. Realising the seriousness of the situation, the driver immediately diverted the bus to Sachi Multi Specialty Hospital on the Tumakuru-Madhugiri Road instead of continuing along the scheduled route. A video that has since gone viral on social media shows the bus pulling up outside the hospital as medical staff rush to assist the woman, who was taken inside for emergency treatment with the help of fellow passengers. Despite the driver’s swift action, Gayatri Devi later died.
