The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has issued show cause notices to eight Assistant Commandants, including a female officer, after they allegedly declined to attend an official working lunch hosted by a senior IPS officer during a training programme, an internal communication reviewed by News18 has revealed.
The communication refers to an earlier show cause notice issued on June 30, 2026, regarding the alleged refusal by trainee officers attending the GO’s Tech Course to participate in a working lunch at the GO’s Mess with Amit Kumar, IPS, SDG, Central Zone. The letter states that the officers were directed to submit explanations within three days of receiving the original notice. However, it notes that more than a month has lapsed and replies had not been received from the units concerned. The communication directs the respective units to ensure that the officers submit their explanations immediately, warning that failure to do so would be construed as having “nothing to state in their defence" and that e parte action could follow.
The matter has been marked “Most Urgent". The communication does not specify the reasons why the officers allegedly declined to attend the working lunch. Nor does it indicate whether any disciplinary action has been initiated beyond the issuance of the show cause notices. The CRPF is yet to respond to the query sent by News18. Sources said the SDG was not happy and asked to issue the show cause notice. Meanwhile, a senior officer deployed in the Directorate said issuing notices over such petty issues dents the working coordination between top brass and junior officers.
