(Image source: ANI) As protests against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations intensified across the state, the mounting pressure has pushed the government to the negotiating table, with students now set to hold formal talks with an official delegation on Thursday.

The decision to initiate dialogue comes amid a sharp escalation in the agitation, with demonstrators demanding accountability and transparency in the recruitment process. They have also demanded that any talks with the government be held in front of cameras or media, according to a NDTV report. In a parallel development, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday arrested five more individuals in connection with the case, taking the total number of arrests to 19 so far. Government’s Olive Branch Officials said the meeting between student representatives and the government’s panel will be held at a designated venue, with communication already conveyed through the Ranchi Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order). Students are currently in the process of finalising a five-member delegation, which will represent them in the discussions after internal consultations.

In a bid to address the growing unrest, the Jharkhand government has constituted a five-member committee to engage with the protesting students. The panel includes four ministers, Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Deepika Pandey Singh, Chamra Linda and Sanjay Prasad Yadav, along with senior IAS officer Ajay Kumar Singh, who currently serves as the state’s Health Secretary. What Is The Panel Doing? Following its formation, members of the committee held a meeting that lasted nearly two hours to chalk out the course of engagement with the students. State minister Radhakrishna Kishore said the panel has been tasked with listening to students’ concerns and acting as a bridge between them and the government. He emphasised that the administration is committed to ensuring justice for the youth and urged the protesters to come forward for talks at the earliest.
