The Organised Crime Squad (East) of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested three persons for allegedly conspiring to murder their rival, a former rowdy-sheeter. The police seized six weapons and an autorickshaw during the operation. According to the police, based on credible information on August 3 that a group of armed individuals was moving around Jayanagar in vehicles and waiting for an opportunity to attack a person in Bairasandra, a police team raided the place and apprehended three suspects.
During the operation, officers recovered six deadly weapons and an autorickshaw allegedly used by the accused. An initial probe revealed that the prime accused, identified as Lakshminarayana, is a resident within the Siddapura Police Station limits. Portraying himself as a “local don” by claiming links with notorious rowdies, he had formed a gang of local youths, creating fear among residents. The investigation further revealed that the accused had previously been involved in a quarrel with a former rowdy-sheeter, also named Lakshminarayana, during the Annamma Jatre festival.
According to police, the prime accused allegedly believed that murdering the former rowdy-sheeter would help him establish himself as a prominent rowdy in the locality. Investigators said he had conspired with his associates and was allegedly waiting with deadly weapons to execute the plan when the police intervened. The police said the investigation has also uncovered the involvement of several other persons in the alleged conspiracy.
Efforts are under way to trace and arrest the remaining suspects, and further legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
