Kyiv and the surrounding region witnessed their deadliest strikes of the year, with 17 people reported dead. Russian attacks also killed one person in Kharkiv and three in Donetsk.

Ukraine, which has repeatedly appealed to its allies for more US-made Patriot missile interceptors, said it did not intercept any of the ballistic missiles used in the overnight assault. Zelensky renews call for air defence support Reacting to the attack, Zelensky said delays in supplying anti-ballistic systems had contributed directly to the casualties. He said interceptors “could have saved lives" and added that delays in receiving anti-ballistic systems from partner countries led to “horrific casualties and destruction". Later, the Ukrainian president said supplies of interceptors from allies had been “significantly reduced" this year. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it had targeted logistics hubs and supply centres in Kyiv and the surrounding region. According to the ministry, the facilities stored and distributed weapons, military equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles.

It also said Russian forces struck three cargo vessels near the Black Sea port of Odesa that were allegedly transporting weapons and military equipment. Heavy damage across Kyiv region Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there were concerns that people remained trapped beneath rubble after residential buildings, a railway station and warehouses were hit. Ukraine’s emergency services said one person died in Kyiv city and at least 16 were injured, while the wider Kyiv region recorded 16 deaths and 29 injuries. In Kharkiv, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said one person was killed and several others were injured, including one person in critical condition. Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin said three people were killed and 27 injured. Emergency services added that fires were still being extinguished at five locations across the Kyiv region, covering around 230,000 square metres.
