The reported expansion includes the launch of a new project called “Ababeel – The Divine Strike". What we know about the Pakistani military deployment? According to the sources, the Pakistan Navy has deployed its elite Naval Special Service Group (SSG-N) commandos in Sir Creek under the newly launched Ababeel project.
The SSG-N is a maritime special operations force trained to conduct high-risk missions across sea, air and land. The project is reportedly equipped with Turkish drones, modern Chinese hovercraft, high-speed naval boats, and the latest rocket and air defence systems. The Turkish drones are capable of carrying explosive materials and can also be used for surveillance, the sources said. The Ababeel project is also said to include an advanced air defence system operating in coordination with the Pakistan Army’s newly established Rocket Force in the Sir Creek region and the Arabian Sea. According to the sources, the system is intended to counter external threats. Pakistan has also integrated unmanned aerial and sea drones into its maritime operations as part of efforts to challenge India’s naval presence in Sir Creek and the Arabian Sea. China, Turkey backing Pakistan’s naval modernisation The sources said China and Turkey are playing a key role in modernising Pakistan’s armed forces by supplying advanced military equipment and technology.
China has reportedly delivered the first Hangor-class submarine to Pakistan, providing what the sources described as enhanced stealth capability and second-strike potential in the Arabian Sea. Pakistan has also inducted advanced Chinese Tughril-class frigates as part of a wider naval fleet modernisation programme. According to the sources, Pakistan is shifting its maritime doctrine from a coastal defence strategy to maintaining a sustained operational presence across the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. The Pakistan Navy has also established multiple marine security posts between the Bandha Dhora and Harami Dhoro areas near the Sir Creek river system. Dozens of coastal defence boats, marine assault craft, hovercraft, naval ships and high-speed patrol boats have reportedly been deployed in Sir Creek and the Arabian Sea, alongside increased naval patrols. The sources further said that after his elevation last year to the newly created post of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Asim Munir has led a large-scale modernisation of Pakistan’s Army, Navy and Air Force under a unified command.
