Thousands of students and job aspirants in Ranchi, Jharkhand, are conducting ongoing protests against the state government over recruitment irregularities, examination paper leaks, delayed results, and cancelled tests. Protesters are highlighting recurring issues with Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations, citing cancelled vacancy notices for stenographers and Assistant Engineers alongside paper leaks in Combined Graduate Level (CGL) and Forest Range Officer tests.
Demonstrators are demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into the alleged recruitment scams, rejection of state CID investigations, cancellation of tainted exams, and action against perpetrators. Key demands include a transparent state public service examination calendar, immediate job releases, and OMR security measures. The agitation in Ranchi features a five-member aspirant committee holding talks alongside a hunger strike led by student leader Devendra Nath Mahato seeking direct dialogue with Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The crisis has drawn political criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the ruling JMM-Congress coalition.
