The orange alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Due to continued waterlogging in several areas and the operation of relief camps in schools, district administrations have announced holidays for educational institutions in affected regions on Thursday.
Here are the district-wise holiday updates Kottayam District Collector Chetan Kumar Meena has declared a holiday on August 6 for educational institutions, including professional colleges, in Kottayam taluk. The holiday will also apply to educational institutions in other taluks where relief camps are currently functioning. However, previously scheduled examinations will not be affected. Alappuzha Following heavy rainfall in recent days, several parts of Alappuzha continue to experience waterlogging. Considering the ongoing weather warning and the operation of relief camps in schools, authorities have declared a holiday on August 6. The holiday applies to all educational institutions, including professional colleges, anganwadis and tuition centres, in Kuttanad, Chengannur and Karthikappally taluks. Schools functioning as relief camps across the district will also remain closed. The Education Department Deputy Director has been authorised to assess local conditions in Mavelikkara, Cherthala and Ambalappuzha taluks and decide on holidays based on the situation.
Scheduled examinations will continue as planned. Pathanamthitta A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions from anganwadis to professional colleges in Thiruvalla taluk on August 6. The holiday will also apply to schools functioning as relief camps in other taluks of the district. District Collector A Nizamuddin announced the decision citing safety concerns due to the prevailing situation. Wayanad Educational institutions operating relief camps in Wayanad will remain closed on August 6, the district administration said. Relief camps are currently functioning at Pulinjaal Government High School, Makkiaad Holy Face School and Kaithakkolli Government LP School. Kozhikode All educational institutions functioning as relief camps in Kozhikode district will remain closed until the camps are discontinued, according to the district administration. Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to remain cautious as weather alerts continue across parts of Kerala.
