In this edition of Super Six hosted by Akshita, panel members debate the newly presented Tamil Nadu state budget. DMK spokesperson V. Srinidhi calls the presentation a 'waste budget' and a 'zero benefit budget for the people', highlighting a reduction of Rs 4,000 crore in education allocation and alleging that key schemes are mere renames of previous DMK initiatives.
Replying to the criticism, TVK spokesperson Felix Gerald defends the 110-page document as a 'complete reform in the government' focused on faceless administration, tender reforms, and plugging revenue leakage in liquor manufacturing to eradicate corruption. Political analyst Sumansi Raman describes the budget as disappointing, pointing out concerns over state debt borrowings, low capital expenditure, and the cut in education funding, while acknowledging the decision not to launch the Rs 2,500 monthly assistance scheme to avoid further state exchequer burden.
The panelists also debate allocation versus actual spending figures in education.
