Home Minister Priyank Kharge has expressed deep shock over the incident in which three labourers were killed and two others injured at a pharmaceutical plant in the Kadechur Badiyal Industrial Area of Yadgir district. In a press release on Wednesday (August 5, 2026), Mr. Kharge stated that the death of the labourers was most unfortunate.
“Actions are being taken to provide necessary medical treatment to the injured labourers,” he said. Stressing the need for mandatory safety measures for factory workers, the Home Minister stated that officials from the concerned department have been directed to submit a detailed report on the sulfur dioxide leakage, as well as details on the safety measures that were placed at the pharmaceutical factory.
Compensation The factory authorities have promised to release ₹20 lakh in compensation to the family of each deceased labourer, he said. Kharge added that apart from
the factory’s compensation, officers have been directed to take proper action to release compensation from the government and benefits from ESIC, in accordance with the law.
