1. Aero India to be held in February 2027 in Bengaluru; CM D.K. Shivakumar assures full co-operation The 16th edition of the biennial Aero India show will be held at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka, in Bengaluru, in February 2027. On August 4, senior officers from the Training Command of Indian Air Force (IAF) met Karnataka’s Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and apprised him of the preparations for the air show. IAF sources told The Hindu that the dates for next year’s Aero India would be announced by the Ministry of Defence. The meeting of the IAF officials with Mr. Shivakumar and the assurance of the government of Karnataka puts to rest the speculation whether Bengaluru would continue to be the host city for the five-day event. Since the conclusion of the previous edition of Aero India in February 2025, there were rumours that the show would move out of Air Force Station, Yelahanka, which has been the venue of the event since 1993.

Three labourers dead, two injured after chemical leak at factory in Kadechur-Badiyal Industrial Area in Yadgir Three labourers died and two others are undergoing treatment in a hospital following a reported chemical leak at a factory in the Kadechur-Badiyal Industrial Area of Yadgir district, in the early hours of August 5. The deceased have been identified as Vikram and Sanjay, both residents of Katni district in Madhya Pradesh, and Ganesh, a native of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana. All three victims were aged between 20 and 25 years. According to preliminary reports, the incident took place between 1 AM and 2 AM inside the industrial plant. After the incident, the five labourers were rushed to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), where three were declared brought dead. 3. Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express train trial run on Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat section from August 11 The stage is set for the introduction of the much-hyped Vande Bharat Express connecting Bengaluru with coastal Karnataka, with South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division gearing up to conduct trial runs from August 11, which will go on till August 20.

Somanna had earlier announced that the VB Express would be introduced on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru sector by June, the same did not materialise for want of a VB rake fitted with Automatic Emergency Braking system. Now that the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, has supplied a 20-car VB rake fitted with AEB to Mysuru Division, the decks are cleared for its trial run and subsequent authorisation for commercial operation. 4. Karnataka Information Commission declares Kalaburagi-Yadgir DCC Bank as ‘public authority’ under RTI Act In a significant ruling, the Karnataka Information Commission’s Kalaburagi Bench has declared the Kalaburagi-Yadgir District Central Cooperative (DCC) Bank a “public authority” under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, holding that the bank functions under substantial government control despite not receiving significant direct financial assistance from the State.
