Delhi, Uttarakhand, Odisha and several others could witness intense showers and thunderstorms. Strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected over Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu and south Karnataka. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted another spell of widespread monsoon rainfall across large parts of the country on August 6, issuing heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings for several states in north, east, west and south India. According to the IMD, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Kerala, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gangetic West Bengal are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Heavy rain has also been forecast for Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu, among other states. Active Monsoon Trough To Trigger Widespread Rain The IMD said the monsoon trough currently extends from Sri Ganganagar through Rohtak, Shahjahanpur, Sultanpur, Gaya and Bankura to Mizoram.
The active monsoon conditions, combined with cyclonic circulations over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Northeast India, along with the influence of a western disturbance, are expected to intensify rainfall activity over the next 24 hours. Delhi-NCR Likely To Witness Another Wet Day The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh. Cloudy skies are expected to prevail throughout the day, with multiple spells of rain likely across Delhi-NCR. Waterlogging and traffic congestion may affect commuters, while the rainfall is expected to bring relief from humid weather by lowering daytime temperatures. Heavy Rain Warning For Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand Both eastern and western Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid open areas during adverse weather. In Uttarakhand, the situation is expected to remain more critical, with heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast in several hilly districts. The IMD has warned of possible landslides, falling rocks, rising river levels and disruptions along the Char Dham pilgrimage routes. Bihar, Jharkhand To Receive Thunderstorms Monsoon activity is expected to remain active over Bihar, with heavy rainfall likely in several districts, particularly across northern and central parts of the state.
